Launch of the Black Business Woman Association (BBWA)
20th November 2006
The launch of the Black Business Woman Association (BBWA) was celebrated in true
African style at Moyo Restaurant at Spier Wine Estate in Stellenbosch, Cape Town.

The event, co-sponsored by The O'Shea Group, was
attended by the Deputy President, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, MECs Tasneem Essop, Richard Dyanti and
Marius Fransman and other prominent business people.
The Chairperson and driving force behind the BBWA, Hilda Ndude, believes this is a landmark event as it marks the formation of
the first formal organization and voice for black women in business, specifically
within the Western Cape.

In line with AsgiSA (Accelerated & Shared Growth Initiative for South Africa) Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka
says she is thrilled and supportive of the formation of an association for black women to connect through business and added
that it was long overdue. "Industries that should be targeted by black women include Tourism, Property, Construction, IT &
Call Centres and ICT Manufacturing" says the Deputy President.
"There are huge opportunities in the Western Cape and it is time for the emancipation and organization of black women in
business within the province. Given the economic and growth opportunities inherent in the Western Cape the timing is perfect for black
business women to seize the opportunities that are available " says Patrick O'Shea, CEO of the O'Shea Group.
